It seems a long journey from the Frisian Dokkum to the North American Seattle. Yet the Frisian trio The Homesick managed to arouse the interest of the famous American grunge and indie label , whereever debuted. Not that The Homesick has anything to do with grunge. On their second album The Big Exercise, this devious group of friends even seems to want to put up a long nose for ramshackle indie
… tendencies. The Big Exercise sounds nicely balanced, with baroque songs full of wide-sounding acoustic guitars, whimsical choirs, inimitable rhythms and here and there a grateful wild outburst. From Dokkum, The Homesick continues to follow its own path, in which humor and self-perspective are never far away. Sup Pop did well to want to publicize this unique trio worldwide. (MR)more
