Odd Future member Tyler, the Creator, takes on yet another new guise on his sixth album. The short intro track Sir Baudelaire is an introduction to his new alter ego Tyler Baudelaire, a haughty rapper living a life of luxury. He further hooks up with the eclectic sound that made Igor (2019) so deliciously whimsical. This time around, there's also plenty of rapping, along with a whole slew of guest
… artists including Lil Wayne, Pharrell Williams and DJ Drama. The songs range from soulful to raw hip-hop. Also, Tyler is much less introspective this time around. It seems like instead he's focused entirely on the production, because it's very impressive. Psychedelic influences, bombastic passages and a rush of samples. Although the majority of the songs stay under three minutes, there are also two whirlwind tracks on this album that reach ten minutes. It seems like Tyler's creativity has no limit. (JvQ)more
