The Time Machine is Alan Parsons' first sign of life since 1996's commercially disappointing album On Air. On this CD recorded in his own studio, Parsons collaborated with veterans Ian Bairnson, Stuart Elliott and arranger Andrew Powell. Colin Blunstone, who sang one of Parson's most beautiful compositions Old And Wise on Eye In The Sky, is also back. Alan Parsons' input on The Time Machine is
… limited to producer. The alternating instrumental and vocal compositions are by Bairnson and Elliott. We also hear vocal contributions from Maire Brennan (Clannad), Beverley Craven, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) and Chris Rainbow. The Time Machine builds on the concept of his older work; very solid but not surprisingly symphonic pop music with a few musical highlights, Including the Ignorance Is Bliss sung by Colin Blunstone and The Call Of The Wild with vocals by Maire Brennan.
