After naming one of his previous albums after his daughter Sahra, his other daughter, Kenza, now receives the same credit. The music on Khaled's earlier releases showed a fusion of raï, reggae, jazz and pop. On the album Kenza the balance changes slightly to pop music due to a more frequent use of dance beats. The hit-sensitive French song C'est La Nuit is, apart from Khaled's vocal decorations,
… a pop song without any Arabic traits. As a pamphlet for peace, Khaled sings John Lennon's song Imagine in a duet with Israeli singer Noa (in Israeli, Arabic and English). Derwiche Tourneur is experimental, about whirling dervishes (by the way, absolutely no music to which a dervish would dance). The best song on this album is the cheerful and danceable El Harba Wine, a duet with the Indian singer Amar. (SvdP)more
