In the Netherlands it came as a shock to many when the American band 16 Horsepower announced in 2004 that it would stop. 16 HP visited our club circuit many times and scored well here with a sound of country, blues and American folk, mixed with the biblical doom and fury of the high and intense frontman David Eugene Edwards. The second DVD of this double album has clearly been put together by a fan.
Belgian filmmaker Nico Leunen recorded the group on their last tour without knowing that this would be the final chord. It was only after this became apparent that images of the relaxed and cheerful trio, during rehearsals, on the band bus and warming up for a show, really took on meaning. The first DVD contains a complete 2002 performance in Brussels. In the many close-ups, especially by Edwards, you can see how intensely and seriously they worked on stage. As a whole, this DVD is a nice tribute to a unique band. (MR)more
