Where gladiators fought each other to the death almost twenty centuries ago, in July 2005 the German metal band Rammstein stood. Built between 50 and 100 AD with a capacity of 25,000 visitors, the Nîmes arena hosted thousands of French metal fans, who marched enthusiastically along with the Teutonic metal of the Germans. As always, Rammstein turned the concert into quite a spectacle, with an
… exuberant decor, flaming microphone stands and the keyboard player who disappears into the cooking pot during the song Mein Teil. The concert in Nîmes is not the only performance that can be seen on the DVD Völkerball, there are also parts from performances in London and Tokyo and a special recorded in Moscow.
