Motown is releasing a series of exemplary DVDs from its most famous artists. After DVDs by Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, it's now The Supremes, the group that scored the most hits for the label. With the now well-known formula: in addition to the played-back television performances, a cappella versions of their greatest hits can be heard. It's a real pleasure
… to hear those perfectly constructed songs again. Unfortunately, they date from a time when little attention was paid to visual presentation. The girls always look radiant but the videos are of poor quality, even if you consider the zeitgeist. However, all attention has been paid to the design of the DVD and the beautiful booklet. In the extra section you can even find a special live recording from 1964 of When The Lovelight Shines Through His Eyes in our own Theater CarrĂ©. (MS)more
