Kadril is a Flemish group that combines traditional acoustic instruments with an electric rhythm section and usually performs solid folk rock. After the Galician-Flemish project La Paloma Negra, in which Kadril collaborated with the Galician singing group Alumea, the band chose emigration from Europe to America as a new theme. In the period between 1870 and 1920, Europe experienced massive migrations.
Europeans came from far and wide to the port of Antwerp to cross from there with ocean liner the Red Star Line to the New World in search of a better future. Sources of inspiration for Kadril were on the one hand the age-old European folk music and on the other hand the new music in the then still fledgling America. After the departure of Eva de Roovere, singer Mariken Boussemaere is the brand new addition. Because of the international theme, two extra singers have been recruited: the British Heather Grabham and the Hungarian Szilvia Bognár. Kadril stands for quality and that is no different with this album. Atmospheric arrangements of traditional music! (SvdP)more
