Although the band is often forgotten by historians, was The Lovin 'Spoonful between 1965 and 1967 responsible for a series of first-rate pop singles which only The Beatles and The Beach Boys themselves for having to tolerate. If the charismatic guitarist and stage animal Bag Yanovksi finds himself in a drug case, the group is quickly out of favor with the public. He leaves in 1967, followed a year later by Sebastian, which means the death knell for the band. The John Sebastian solo career initially successful - thanks to a solo performance at the Woodstock Festival - but within a few years he seems to lose his inspiration and pulls out of show business.more
