Boudewijn de Groot is one of the greatest engaged singers of the twentieth century. In the 1960s and 1970s, the duo De Groot (music) and Lennart Nijgh (text) put an important stamp on the Dutch-language listening song. After a long hiatus, De Groot made a successful comeback in the nineties. The DVD What Was, Has Been gives for the first time a visual historical overview of De Groot from the start
… of his career until now: television appearances and video clips, in black and white and color. There is no informative booklet, but most of the twenty-five tracks will have been recorded in the sixties and seventies. The valuable compilation includes De Groot classics Welterusten, Mr De President, Het Land Van Maas En Waal, Prikkebeen, Drowned Butterfly, Testament and Evening. (SvdP)more
