One of the ways in which Ruud tries to exploit his popularity, thanks to the groundbreaking Veronica program "Big Brother", is the release of the CD "Lekker hugelen". That just being able to hold a guitar is not enough to make a record, is painfully evident from the thirteen love songs produced by Tom Peters. With unsteady voice Ruud assaults songs like "Some broken hearts never mend", "Woman",
… "Only the lonely" and "Let your love flow" in an almost laughable way. He sings the Carpenters medley and "True love that's a wonder" together with Paul de Leeuw and Hans Vermeulen, respectively, who remarkably effortlessly adapt to the level of Ruud.
