She is a true fado innovator! On this album, Ana Moura mixes traditional fado with a modern blend of African genres such as the semba, morna and kizomba and the Brazilian styles of samba and chora. Her mother is of Angolan descent, so in her youth Moura listened to Portuguese fado music and danced to Angolan music. Casa Guilhermina is the name of her home, named after her grandmother. During the
… covid lockdown, she began writing her own music at home. She met producers Pedro Da Lindha and Pedro Mafama, who specialize in mixing fado with pop rhythms from the Afro-Lusophone diaspora and Moorish influences. Much of the music was recorded in-house, including nature sounds. Prince guitarist Mike Scott makes a guest contribution on the song Jacarandá, a tribute her good friend Prince. (SvdP)more
