Trumpeter Loet van der Lee had a dream: to pay tribute to the twelve provinces. He then encouraged composers, jazz musicians, a singer, translators, a photographer and a lyricist to participate in the realization of his project. For example, he chose a prominent jazz composer from each province, who was born or raised there to write a composition that could be regarded as an ode to that province.
Everyone has their own experience of their 'roots' and interprets it in their own way, which is why the 'musical landscape' of this CD has become very diverse. It can best be described as jazz and improvised music. The singer / lyricist Jeroen Zijlstra wrote two lyric poems for the provinces of Noord-Holland and Friesland that were set to music. At the beginning of the 21st century, 'Holland in Jazz' brings an exciting, contemporary greeting to our country. (RM)more
