An interesting man this Harry Connick Jr. (1967). Born of well-to-do parents (father and mother lawyers), and after a very good art and music education he developed into a singer, composer, orchestra leader and actor (including his memorable role as the serial killer in Copycat). We would rightly like to call him a goldcrest. Where is he now with this album Come By Me? We hear five well-composed
… own songs and eight classic standards arranged and orchestrated by himself from, for example, Porter (Easy To Love and Love For Sale), Berlin (Change Partners and There's No Business Like Showbusiness) and Hamilton (Cry Me A River). For this CD he opted for the swing of a big band, the use of a full orchestra and sometimes both. His voice is sometimes reminiscent of Sinatra and that is a compliment. All this makes Come By Me a good and interesting record. (RM)more
