The stories surrounding Fleetwood Mac's Millioneller Rumors are now just as well known as the many hits that the album spawned. In late 1974, this ever-ravaged guitarist group recruited California guitarist / singer / songwriter Lindsay Buckingham. He took his girlfriend, singer / songwriter Stevie Nicks with him to create yet another incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, which grew out of the British blues
… boom. The first nameless album from 1975 was just starting to catch on when they booked a studio for their successor Rumors. Among other things, this success put relationships within the band on edge, resulting in divorces for Buckingham and Nicks and bassist John McVie and keyboardist / singer / songwriter Christine (McVie) Perfect. That turmoil was reflected in Rumors that appeared in 1977, in a dozen classic rock songs and ballads that are equally catchy and tormented. A repertoire that never lost its power, twenty-five years later the heavenly beautiful Dreams or the angry stampers The Chain and Go Your Own Way, sung by Nicks, still manage to move and impress.
