The Scottish band Primal Scream has been on the road since 1984. Although friends and foes agree that they have a lot to offer, their CDs are often disappointing. Usually they make the mistake of putting too many different musical elements into one album. … Stones-like rock. The eighth album Evil Heat also has too many thoughts. With almost every song there is an association with a different band. I felt like I was listening to new songs from The Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, The Velvet Underground and The Prodigy in succession. And if that wasn't enough, there was also a game of sound terror in the tradition of Atari Teenage Riot (Alec Empire). Of course it is not all bad. Evil Heat also has strong moments. As a listener you just don't get a moment of rest. Result: a CD that ultimately gets on your nerves and again a missed opportunity for Primal Scream. (MvP)more
