Jack Poels is known as the singer and songwriter of Rowwen Heze from Limburg. For this side project he worked with multi-instrumentalist Leon Giesen, who in the past worked as a bass guitarist with bands such as Toontje Lager and Captain Gumbo. Poels regularly traveled by train from the Limburg town of America to the west of the country: the title of the project was quickly found. It is refreshing
… to hear Jack Poels' characteristic vocals in a different musical idiom. PoelsGiesen stands for radio-friendly listening pop with a roots-like touch, while the recordings have retained a sketchy character. The two songwriters complement each other well: opposite each reflective text by Poels is a lighter tune by Giesen. Fortunately, this project does not mean the end of ' Los Limbos' because no matter how sympathetic, many of these songs sound a bit ordinary and above all prove how well Jack Poels is at home with Rowwen Heze.
