In 1993 Asian Dub Foundation saw the light as a continuation of the documentary Identical Beat about a series of workshops that taught the principles of musical production techniques to Asian children. Everyone now knows their sound, which is based on Indian influences, reggae and Western dance. Tank appropriately starts with a fat drum'n'bass, stripped of every subtlety. Even though the tempo
… immediately decreases, the beats keep cutting in constantly. Soon the reggae influences and rock guitars come into play. Strangely enough, the Indian influences have been pushed to the background. Of course the tablas, sitars, strings and typical vocals are still present, but a lot less than before. The vacant space is mainly filled by guitars, which makes Asian Dub Foundation look more like a rock band. Fortunately, the dub influences are still 100 percent present. All this makes Asian Dub Foundation the ideal act for major festivals. The CD-ROM gives access to exclusive audio tracks, videos and much more via your computer. (AD)more
