The story behind Foo Fighters may be known. After the death of Kurt Cobain in 1995, ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl formed his own band in which he started singing and playing guitar himself. Foo Fighters quickly became one of the biggest rock bands in America and the albums were without exception well received. In the meantime Grohl also found the time to play drums with Queens Of The Stone Age and
… made a CD with prominent metal heroes under the name Probot. In Your Honor is the fifth album and according to Grohl it is the best Foo Fighters record ever. In the magazine Oor he formulates it as 'a new starting point, a door that leads on to another ten years of Foo Fighters'. After ten years there is still enough ambition, which is why this CD is released as a double album. The two slices should be consumed strictly separately: the first is full of rock songs as we know them from Foo Fighters, the second is the opposite and shows the quiet side of the band. It is actually the first time that the band has made such a division and that has to be listened to for a while. The nice thing about Foo Fighters was the balance between hard and soft, between pop and rock. Yet, in the end, as with all Foo Fighters albums, there is little to criticize about In Your Honor. (JdD) as with all Foo Fighters albums, little to say about In Your Honor. (JdD) as with all Foo Fighters albums, little to say about In Your Honor. (JdD)more
