After the successes of the many English and American bands that take the new wave of the eighties as their starting point (Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, among others), we had to wait for a Dutch representative of this movement. With Taxi To The Ocean from Utrecht, that band seems to have finally arrived. In one of the first songs of this CD (Are We Not Men?) We hear the now well-known nervous angular
… guitar riffs and intense vocals. But appearances can be deceiving, the band is less easy to pin down to a style than it seems at first hearing. Taxi To The Ocean on their second album managed to avoid the worst (alternative) rock clichés and regularly take an unexpected side street. Its greatest merit is that it has managed to capture the energy of the live performances and still retain a certain subtlety in the arrangements. Keep an eye on this band! (MS)more
