With a cool band name, the right image and, last but not least, a tough singer, the New York trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs managed to put themselves in the spotlight in 2003. Some EPs and eventually the debut album Fever To Tell got a lot of attention from the press, and the name was quickly established. Added to this, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs debut was also released well-timed: garage rock and punk did well due
… to the success of The White Stripes, among others. The second full-length album Show Your Bones, released three years after Fever To Tell, is a lot more accessible than its predecessor. Extreme excesses or noise have made way for more melodic songs (with sometimes even an acoustic guitar!), Which by the way have lost none of their venom. This gives singer Karen O the opportunity to show that she is not only good at screaming, but can also handle quieter songs. With Show Your Bones the Yeah Yeah Yeahs prove that they not only have a cool attitude, but can also make a good album. (IV)more
