Bassist Barry, drummer Mince and singer / guitarist Jon met through an advertisement in a record store in Glasgow. All three fraternally took the surname Fratelli and continued their journey as The Fratellis. An EP, a single and of course a page on My Space gave the trio a first round of fans and friends. British media hype was inevitable against the release of this debut album. Fortunately, the
… album does not disappoint. Cheerful and energetic, the trio presents itself in thirteen pointed songs. The influences can hardly be kept up with; from The Libertines to Arctic Monkeys to the bubblegum doll of Mud (!). But British rock 'n roll and beat can also be heard in this unpretentious potpourri of roars. Frontman Jon has listened carefully to Arctic Monkeys' singer Alex Turner and tells in the songs about everyday life as a young person in a big city, where he does not spare us dirty details and foul language. Not very original, but that is no reason not to be happy about it. (MR)more
