Blakroc is the collaboration between the blues rock band The Black Keys and a handful of hip-hop artists. Former owner of the Roc-A-Fella label Damon Dash, who has previously indicated that he is a big fan of The Black Keys, coordinated this collaboration. … eleven days and contains eleven tracks. But what can you expect from such a record? Such big names must guarantee special music and that is exactly what we get served. With dreamy sounds from the Rhodes piano and sharp guitar riffs on the magnificent track Why Can't I Forget Him, the band gets the best out of singer Nicole Wray. Furthermore, accompanied by live instruments, the singing skills of Mos Def are expressed, who makes no secret of his predilection for rock music. Raekwon's grim stories are also perfectly suited to the exciting piano chords. Not a wide-ranging spectacle, but rather a set of intimate jam sessions. Very charming! (GL)more
