Although my body is in the US, my heart's there. A phrase from the pen of the American rapper Wale and an excellent characterization by Stephen Marley. Wale calls it out in the opening track of the Jamaican singer's second album. Wale and Marley's heart is in Africa, despite both living in the United States. This theme is featured on Revelation Pt. 1 not released anymore. Marley, like his father
… Bob, continues to fight against African oppression and glorify his savior Haile Selassie. Musically, Stephen is also following in his father's footsteps more. My dear son plays no less than three songs by the reggae legend. Although Stephen's nickname is still Raggamufin, there is a lot less ragga played than on his debut Mind Control (2007). Especially on the first half of the record there are relatively few beats and more traditional reggae is played. The single Jah Army sounds a lot more eclectic and modern. Stephen's popular half-brother Damian sings along nicely. Revelation is a family product in more ways than one and a must for fans of the Marley clan. (JE)more
