In the cartoon in the inner sleeve of Worship Music, the band members of Anthrax fight with their own dark alter egos. It seems like a nice metaphor for the creation of this album. All vocals were performed by Dan Nelson, the man who joined the band in 2009. However, Nelson quit (or was fired according to himself). The five remaining knew his vocal lines and had them sung again by Joey Belladonna.
Indeed, that's the man who sang Anthrax's most successful albums in the eighties. In metal magazine Aardschok, band boss Scott Ian struggles to justify this opportunistic action. Fortunately for Ian, with Worship Music, he has convincing proof that he is right. With passionate thrash metal, sometimes stiffly chopping and sometimes strikingly melodic, the group is reclaiming its lost ground. The biggest plus is Joey Belladonna, whose voice has never been better. With Worship Music, the Anthrax members convincingly expel their inner demons. (PdK)more
