It is that Aerosmith already released an album under the title Nine Lives, otherwise it would have been an appropriate title for this record. After a tumultuous history of drug addictions, line-up changes, weak ballads and judging in American Idol (Steven Tyler), the group will release its fifteenth studio album in 2012. It is their first CD with new material in eleven years. The beginning is
… promising: Luv XXX and Oh Yeah evoke fond memories of the dirty blues rock band that Aerosmith was in the seventies. Other songs (like Out Go The Lights) could have been on Pump or Permanent Vacation. Unfortunately the obligatory ballads are also on it. Tell Me is still okay, but Can't Stop Loving You (a duet with country star Carrie Underwood) slips like an eel in a bucket of olive oil. Music From Another Dimension lasts seventy minutes. That's too long, but the album is an illustrative journey through the many different guises that Aerosmith took on during its 42-year (!) History. (PdK)more
