At first glance it looks like a snack. A few months after Andrew Bird presented his sixth album Break It Yourself, he comes up with a seventh piece of work. With only eight songs it also looks a bit like a side project. However, Andrew Bird doesn't make disposables or mediocre material. The American singer / songwriter just had too much inspiration to settle for a single record. Opener Three White
… Horses immediately proves this statement. It might be the best song that Bird fired at his fans in 2012. After this, the tension is perfectly maintained with covers by The Handsome Family and Townes Van Zandt and a few gems by Birds, including the passionate Something Biblical. With only thirty-five minutes of material, the CD may be a bit short, but certainly not a snack! (JE)more
