Despite the fact that Tired Pony is known as a supergroup, it is mainly the child of Gary Lightbody. The Snow Patrol lead singer is so fond of writing music that even in his sparse spare hours he spends time making songs. He still lives in Belfast, but spends a lot of time in Los Angeles recording with friends. Kind seeks kind and so Tired Pony mainly consists of other workaholics. The most famous
… members are the busy producer Jacknife Lee and the side projects addicted former REM musicians Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey. Together they previously made The Place We Ran From (2010), which by the way was far from convincing everyone. The supergroup status is again the biggest draw for the second full-length. The songs themselves are a lot less startling. The music is entertaining and the song material of Lightbody is handled in a completely different way than with Snow Patrol. Yet it is mainly fans of that band - and therefore not of the other related groups - who get their money's worth. Lightbody is in the foreground and the rest gently color the background. (JE)more
