Kyuss has a legendary status among stoner rock enthusiasts. No other group has been able to capture the scorching heat of the California desert in hallucinatory hard rock songs. Kyuss's most famous ex-member, Josh Homme, continued with the group Queens Of The Stone Age. That group sounded a lot more accessible and therefore achieved much more success. That the other three band members of Kyuss had
… not yet been forgotten was evident when that trio toured the European club circuit under the name Kyuss Lives in 2011. Even though Josh Homme was not there, all shows were sold out. Vista Chino was created from the ashes of that project. Singer John Garcia, bassist Nick Oliveri and drummer Brant Bjork were all once in Kyuss. Only Homme's replacement, the Belgian Bruno Fevery, never played in Kyuss, but the dragging riffs also seem to be in his blood. Unfortunately Vista Chino doesn't get anywhere as good as Kyuss, but the band is certainly a nice sign of life for these stoner rock veterans. (PdK)more
