Hannah Reid is the singer of London Grammer and blessed with a voice that seems much older than she really is. Reid, 23 years old when this album is released, has a dark, echoing voice that sometimes seems to come straight from the eighties. … accompaniment is kept small on purpose. London Grammer is an heir to such groups as and , but knows how to add something new to the sound of those groups. Thanks to the voice of Hannah Reid. That sound appeals to many people, especially in the most accessible songs such as album opener Hey Now, which has already been viewed more than one and a half million times on YouTube (that was the position in mid-October 2013). Especially the first half of the album is very strong. Then the group repeats a little too much. Nevertheless a fine debut album by a promising young group. (PdK)more
