The band name suggests otherwise, but consists of two sisters who sing in Dutch. The guitar / cello duo was discovered by ( , ) during the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. Apparently it clicked between Soldaat and the Wijnhoven sisters, because not much later the three of them left for Vlieland, where the debut album was recorded in a week and a half. The result is a collection of surprising,
… idiosyncratic songs, very charmingly decorated with small sounds. The ladies also keep it small in the lyrics. The songs are about everyday things, really big themes are not covered. It's sweet, cute, prickly. That may be too much, but Clean Pete gets away with it. It's all so charming. That is really the best term to describe this album. The free, winding harmony vocals, the intimate sound of a grand cafĂ© on Vlieland and the stacked sounds of almost exclusively acoustic instruments. And on top of that the Limburgish accent of the sisters, with such an irresistibly soft 'g': charming, sweet, delicious. (HF)more
