Life Happens, it is an appropriate title for this album by the now 74-year-old Candi Staton. Both in her private life (married five times) and in her career, she often had to start over. Soul and blues form the basis for long-lived songs with revealing titles such as I Ain't Easy To Love, Even The Bad Times Are Good, She's After Your Man and Never Had The Chance. Remarkable is the reunion in three songs with Rick Hall, the producer of the Fame label with whom Staton recorded her (still) best work in the seventies. (IV)more
