With their debut album Definitely Maybe, Oasis had released a record from which the self-confidence could be shoveled off. Gone were the times when British groups timidly stared at their shoes during performances. The British, in particular, fell en masse for the bluffing group from Manchester with their successor (What's The Story) Morning Glory? managed to maintain their momentum gloriously. The
… band even became the biggest act in the country. In a week, 347,000 Morning Glory units were sold in Britain alone. This re-release, which comes out nineteen years after the original release, also shows that the buzz was justified. What is striking is the variety: in addition to the iconic singles Wonderwall and Some Might Say, there is room for simple but very effective 'meat-and-potatoes' rock songs (Hello, Roll With It) and a pastiche (She's Electric). With the epic, psychedelic closing track Champagne Supernova, Oasis is also convincingly exploring new roads. This re-release contains two extra discs with b-sides, demos, covers and live recordings.
