Twenty years after Spraakwater (1995), the hit single with which Extince changed Dutch (linguistic) hip hop forever, the rapper from Oosterhout comes with X, his tenth album. Excuse me, his tenth? Including a collector and mixtape, we really count seven, but Extince also includes three unreleased English-language albums from his early years. … rapping in English. Not bad, but that's not why Extince has achieved legendary status. We prefer to hear the Exter-o-naldus in his native language, when he still shows his flexible presentation and verbal abilities, for example in the funky In De Flow, Yesterday Afternoon (with Bollywood sample) or Yo !. In Update, Extince looks back on his thirty-year career, and he looks at the Dutch hip-hop landscape, colleagues and former competitors.
