Little Dots ties in with (2007) and again contains recordings of the tour that Frank Zappa undertook with a big band in 1972. The first part of 1972 was to recover this American composer and rock artist from his fall in the orchestra pit of London's Rainbow Theater. In this period he wrote and produced the two somewhat underestimated jazz rock / big band records and . Once back on his feet, he
… went on tour with, in addition to an extensive horn section, drummer ( ). Remarkably, nothing was played from the aforementioned records. Little Dots also sounds a bit like a second garnish to Imaginary Diseases. Sound quality is poor. The long title track is a bluesy composition, decorated with the necessary Zappa madness. The final piece Columbia, SC is a nice curiosity. Since Gordon had just been arrested for possession of cocaine, the band was forced to jam with Maury Baker, the drummer for the support act . Baker stands its ground, but the band doesn't get much further than improvising a bit around the theme of James Bond. Within Zappa's posthumous flow, Little Dots is not an essential one. (MR)more
