Not hindered by any urge for a modern or commercial sound, the graceful British soul and blues singers Jo Harman continues her own way. She does this successfully - she has already performed at Parkpop in the Netherlands and in the Royal Albert Hall in England - and stands out among the electro-soul sound of her generation. For her second album, Harman went to the Sound Imperium Studio in Nashville
… to work with renowned producer Fred Mollin ( , , , ) and a variety of American session musicians. The result is an album full of soundly played soul, blues and classic rock with a leading role for her clear white soul voice and well-carried delivery. Guitar, organ and power drums accompany her in self-written songs, without looking at the clock. If Harman lets himself go, it can easily exceed seven minutes, as in the case of Lend Me You Love. Also special is the guest role of Michael McDonald ( ) with his characteristic howling voice in the funky When We Were Young. People We Become is a confident and very enjoyable album. (MR)more
