Human II Nature is the second album by the Finnish band Nightwish on which the Dutch takes over as front woman. The album is divided into two parts. Part one mainly focuses on people and emotions. Part two is about nature and consists mainly of instrumental orchestrated songs. With this the band is breaking new ground, although the symphonic aspect is still very much present. … Music makes that immediately clear. The cinematic and almost theatrical sound is rock solid. Jansens singing qualities are impressive, listen to her opera voice in Shoemaker, for example. After all the musical violence that occupies Human, it takes a while to switch to the mainly instrumental second movement with many Celtic influences. Here the band delves even deeper into their cinematic world of experience. With Human II Nature you are sweet for almost an hour and a half, but this album never gets boring. (JvQ)more
