Canadian singer-songwriter Tamara Lindeman and her band The Weather Station didn't really stand out with their four previous albums. Their fifth album Ignorance, however, was internationally swamped with praise and five-star reviews. The Guardian even wrote 'A heartbroken masterpiece'. And rightly so, because from opener Robber onwards, The Weather Station combine a sultry melange of yacht rock,
… disco, jazz and folk rock with Lindeman's darkly sensual vocals. Music that refers to Talk Talk as well as Steely Dan and Aimee Mann. But above all the group developed its own electro-acoustic sound in which tight, hypnotic rhythms form the basis for capricious horns and layers of guitars and keys.
