Somehow the American group Greta van Fleet is reminiscent of the Netherlands' most famous retro band
DeWolff. Coincidentally Greta van Fleet also consists mainly of brothers and you can guess the record collection of their father. Just like DeWolff they seem to be no longer influenced by old rock but they started thinking like a 70's rock band. In that way they became a 70s band in the wrong era.
Everything is right again on this second album; the tough riffs, the languid rocking rhythms and the natural application of prog and soul poured into strong songs. And then, of course, there's singer Josh Kiszka, whose helium-high vocals put Robert Plant and Geddy Lee (Rush) to shame. You could name a laundry list of vintage albums that undoubtedly haven't passed the Kiszka brothers by. But more importantly, The Battle At Garden's Gate is a strong rock album full of catchy songs.
