Willy Mason himself sees death as a spiritual state in which you are no longer bound by the rules of yourself, culture or society. A form of freedom, which he also hinted at on Already Dead. The result is an interesting album, where you can hear catchy indie songs, but with an extremely dark edge. Inspiration also came from Mason's own concerns about his loved ones. In his lyrics, he talks about
… honesty, cheating, freedom and anonymity in the digital age. The music is therefore a constant field of tension between the things Mason believes oppress, and the freedom you gain when you manage to free yourself from these constructs. This time he almost completely abandons the folk of his earlier work for indie rock with catchy bass lines and synths. His baritone voice underlines the raw edge of his music and lifts the tension on this record to a higher level. (JvQ)more
