Only ten hours were needed to record the tenth album by The Black Keys in Nashville. Without a clear schedule or too many rehearsals Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney set to work, paying tribute to the Mississippi hill country blues that inspired them in their early days. Their approach results in a sweltering blues record that develops organically. They were assisted by guitarist Kenny Brown (Burnside)
… and bassist Eric Deaton (Kimbrough). The guitar riffs sneak past and are repeatedly overdone. The pair clearly return to the sound of their early days. More than once the guitar play reaches feverish outbursts, which makes Delta Kream get under your skin. (JvQ)more
