Las Mujeres Yo No Lloran comes seven years after Shakira's album
El Dorado (2017). The singer chose to sing almost entirely in Spanish this time, after alternating between English and Spanish on previous records. In addition, her 11-year relationship with soccer player Gerard Piqué stranded and thus this also became a break-up album of sorts. One with a high hit potential, though, because in between
… the snarls it is mainly a danceable and swinging album. Leave it to Shakira to turn her heartbreak into something positive, just look at her diamond tears on the album cover. The Colombian superstar collaborated with Cardi B, Raw Alejandro and Ozuna, among others. The production combines pop, EDM, Latin and reaggeton into and tasteful but safe whole. The vocoder is also brought out several times. Although a bit overproduced, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran does listen nicely. (YvQ)more
