On this DVD a recording of a concert that Marc Almond gave in July 2004 in London's Almeida Theater, a small theater with a seated audience. A good location for an intimate show and that is what Almond makes of it. He starts with songs from his CD Heart On Snow (2004), a themed album about Russia. Almond is alone on the stage, dimly lit, with projections behind him (including the translation of
… Russian lyrics) and without a band. It is only after eight songs that musicians enter the stage (two violinists, a pianist, a guitarist and a bassist) and songs from previous CDs and covers (David Bowie, Lou Reed) are played. After his career in Soft Cell, Marc Almond has developed into the singer of a synthipop band into a chansonnier, who performs the songs with a great sense of drama and romance, and the DVD Sin Songs shows this perfectly. In addition to the concert registration, Sin Songs also contains an interview with Almond of half an hour and four songs that were recorded during the Dress Rehearsel, so without an audience. (IV)more
