In 1983, The Police was at the height of its fame. The group led by frontman Sting had scored an enormous series of hits in a short time and were widely regarded as the best pop group of the moment. The Police was unique in several ways. Due to the trio line-up and the original mix of rock and reggae, performed by technically advanced musicians. Sting also wrote catchy pop songs that everyone could
… sing along. The audience at the concert following their fifth and final studio album Synchronicity is strikingly mixed and much older than you would expect from a hit group like The Police. The group routinely works through a set of only hits, with typically the songs from their early days like Roxanne and So Lonely receiving the most support. A year later the group would split up. Temporary, the band members indicated in the interview (included as a bonus on the DVD) that they gave before their last performance in Melbourne. But The Police would never make another record or tour again after that performance. (MS)more
