The Beverwijk bassist and singer Frank Kraayeveld started the rough rythm & blues band Bintangs in 1961. Forty-five years later, he is the only original member of this group, leading a dormant existence on the provincial stages from the 1980s. In 2004 the brothers Gerben (drums) and Maarten (guitar) Ibelings joined Bintangs. With their own group Bad To The Bone (of which Maarten is still a part)
… they never hid their admiration for the Beverwijk wild men. With this (relatively) young blood in the ranks, Bintangs is rocking as usual. And that can be seen and heard on this DVD on which the group's forty-five anniversary is celebrated with a dazzling and sweat-drenched concert in the Haarlemse Patronaat. Motor Kraayeveld is also honored in a documentary, in which this stage monster reveals himself as an amiable and even somewhat shy storyteller. It is a pity that the archive material that fills the rest of this DVD does not go back any further than 1987. But that is nothing more than a slur on this well-deserved anniversary DVD. (MR)more
