Hurricane Sandy hit the Caribbean and the east coast of the United States in October 2012. The result: dozens of deaths and a million damage. An always sympathetic gesture is the benefit concert. They are not little ones who show themselves on stage at Madison Square Garden: Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel. Celebrities such as Billy Crystal, Susan Sarandon, Leonardo
… DiCaprio and Jake Gyllenhall will perform in between music performances. The show is extremely American in design, with a lot of fanfare and bells and whistles and a Hollywood voiceover telling us which artists will be performing. That American bombast is still up to that point. The disturbing thing about this is that the Caribbean is completely ignored. And that while Sandy in Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and Puerto Rico caused more damage than in the United States. Tip: skip the kitschy films in which the celebrities talk and just watch the performances.
