He is 69 years old when he released his 178th (!) Album Kersvers. Although Herman van Veen still feels young, he realizes that the fall of his life is slowly coming because he comes into contact with the loss of loved ones in his environment. However, the music on Kersvers is still full of fresh zest for life. Van Veen made this album together with guitarist Edith Leerkes and her talented son, the
… drummer Marnix Dorrestein. Jurriaan JJ Sielcken subtly added modern sound effects and drum rhythms to the mix. The background vocals of Van Veen's daughters Babette and Anne complete the intimate atmosphere. A children's choir will be heard especially for the critical song about an intolerant image of God (Mister). Van Veen sings about the transience of life, memories of a past life, how after a death life goes on and how he likes to long for a soft death. But in loving and humorous terms he also sings about love for his beloved (Spliksplinterlief) and his mother (Allerhande). Dag Reizen shows his sympathy for hunted refugees… in music and text you feel Van Veen's great heart for humanity. (SvdP)more
