You may already know, but Van Morrison can be very pleasant. At the end of 2017, the Irish singer will release a stack of covers of old-fashioned hits and a few own songs with the same sound. Versatile comes just three months after which was very similar. On that record Morrison adapted well-known blues songs to his will, now it is the turn of jazz standards such as Unchained Melody and A Foggy
… Day. They are songs that almost everyone knows. They have been dished up and chewed up countless times. You have to come from a good background to make them credible. Morrison does it. With little fanfare he gets through the classical material and manages to add a few of his own classics-in-the-cap to his oeuvre. Great listening material for a rainy afternoon. (JE)more
