The Celtic tenors trio consists of three young Irish men. Matthew Gilsenan, Niall Morris and James Nelson have received classical training and have performed in operas and oratorios for years. The repertoire that the tenors sing, however, extends beyond classical music. In 2000 The Celtic Tenors released their eponymous debut album with Scottish and Irish traditionals such as Caledonia, Bhir Mi O
… and The Last Rose Of Summer. The album achieved gold and later platinum status within weeks. The Celtic Tenors performed at home and abroad and broadened their musical horizons: the result can be heard on the second album So Strong (2002). On this CD the tenors sing classical, folk and pop songs in harmonious polyphony. For example Morricone's Nella Fantasia, Mercury's Love Of My Life, Siffre's Something Inside So Strong and the folk songs Ag Criost An Siol and Fionnghuala. The harmony vocals of the lyrical tenors sound pure and serene and the arrangements are silky and harmonious. An album with relaxed (background) music. (SvdP)more
