In the early 1930s, French violinist Stéphane Grappelli founded the Quintette Du Hot Club De France with guitarist Django Reinhardt. This was one of the first jazz bands whose members only played string instruments. In 2008, Grappelli would have turned 100 years old. Reason enough for the Rosenberg Trio, Dutch specialists in gypsy jazz who played with Grappelli in Carnegie Hall in New York in 1993,
… to revive his music. Due to the lack of a violinist in the trio, Tim Kliphuis, who is seen worldwide as Grappelli's successor, was called upon. Also on Tribute To Stéphane Grappelli, the Rosenberg Trio remains faithful to authentic compositions from the time of the Quintette Du Hot Club De France, with the exception of You Are The Sunshine Of My Life by Stevie Wonder, which is performed entirely in the spirit of that period.
